OIL PASTELS In 1949, Parisian painter Henri GOETZ approached Henri SENNELIER the famous artist materials manufacturer, about creating a wax colour stick for his friend Pablo PICASSO. Picasso, a long-time Sennelier customer and a frequent visitor to their store across the street from the Louvre museum, was looking for a medium that could be used freely on a variety of surfaces without fading or cracking. Their collaboration produced the incomparable SENNELIER oil pastels. Originally available in a palette of classic hues, the colour selection was expanded with the addition of metallic and iridescent hues. Beyond these classic hues a selection of unique shades is available, and in particular a gradation of greys, required for a balanced palette. This evolution is the fruit of a long-standing collaboration with European and North American painters, who have worked with our company in developing an exceptional palette of shades. The Sennelier oil pastel is a product that makes use of the components used in all Sennelier colours: top quality pigme nts, an extremely pure synthetic binding medium and mineral wax. The pigments are ground with an inert, non-siccative binding medium that does not oxidise and that has no effect upon either film stability or surface. This base is then mixed with wax (neutral pH). The balance of this mix provides Sennelier oil pastels with a unique unctuousness and a creamy texture that allows for a great deal of freedom in pictorial expression. The Sennelier oil pastels possess an extraordinarily high pigment content, thus providing them with a high colouring and covering potential, excellent brightness and a high degree of light stability (with the exception of metallic and fluorescent shades). This material allows oil painting to be approached differently. It extends the artist's freedom of expression, allowing a greater degree of spontaneity, of "expressionism". The Oil Stick is a composition of oil paint. A proportion of the oil is substituted with a neutral mineral wax, resulting in the stick appearance.These colours are of perfect quality: pure pigments are ground into vegetable oils (siccatives), selected for their low degree of yellowing with time. The choice and high concentration of pigments enables excellent light resistance to be achieved. These colours are applied discreetly to conventional oil painting supports (oil-proof or universal) and demand quality background preparation. Supports: canvas, canvas boards, laminated panels, paper. Solid oil paint should be applied in a relatively thin film (no more than 1mm). Layers can be overlapped, in the same manner as paste oil paint, and can, if necessary, be thinned with petroleum or turpentine. Before use, the surface film should be removed. This latter will re-form after a few days of non-use. Paint applied dries within 2 to 5 days depending on layer thickness and atmospheric conditions. A clear medium is available allowing transparency and glazing effects to be achieved. Solid artists' quality colours are available in opaque or transparent shades, depending on the shades of the pigments used. The product may be stored for extended periods of time and requires no special attention, apart from avoiding heat sources that may damage it.Once dry, the paint may be varnished like conventional oil paint, after a minimum drying period of 6 months, using an oil paint finishing varnish.

  Oil Sticks are an alternative form of oil paint. They are made by hand, with the finest pigments and natural waxes, in Montréal by KAMA PIGMENTS   The Kama Pigments Oil Sticks basically are an artist’s oil paint in stick form.   They can be applied to a canvas (or any other support that is appropriate for oil paint) quickly, easily and dynamically to create exciting, expressive marks that are not possible with ordinary oil paint.   The colors are amazingly bold, and Oil Sticks can be used without solvents or a palette. They can be mixed and blended directly on the support with a brush or neutral Oil Stick, and can be used to create transparent glazes, thick impastos and anything in between.         Kama Pigments Oil Sticks offer the artist a medium that combines the vividness, depth and consistency of oil paints with the natural ease of application that is typical of pastels and charcoal.   Handmade with natural waxes, walnut oil and no solvent. Die Gamblin-Farbpalette Robert Gamblin hat unsere Palette in die Farbgruppen „Mineral“ und „Modern“ gegliedert, um Künstlern die Auswahl einer Farbpalette zu erleichtern das am besten zu ihrer künstlerischen Absicht passt. Unsere Farben sind auch nach Epochen der Pigmentgeschichte gruppiert: Klassik, Impressionismus und 20. Jahrhundert Jahrhundert. Im Laufe der Kunstgeschichte waren Gemälde immer ein Spiegelbild der Materialien, die Künstlern zur Verfügung standen. Mineralfarben Die mineralische Seite der Farbkarte umfasst Farben, die aus anorganischen Pigmenten, also aus der Erde ausgegrabenen Metallerzen, hergestellt werden. Bei vielen dieser Pigmente wird ihre Farbe in Öfen bei sehr hoher Hitze entwickelt. Unten auf der Mineralseite des Diagramms ist die Gruppe der Erdfarben, die das Herzstück der Malerpaletten der Klassik bildete. Diese Gruppe von Pigmenten, die hat seinen Ursprung in der Höhlenmalerei und der Antike und war von der Renaissance bis zur Klassik von zentraler Bedeutung für die Palette des Ölmalers Epoche. Aus dieser begrenzten Palette von Erdfarben stellten Maler Formen dar, indem sie große Kontraste zwischen den dunkelsten Dunkelheiten und den dunkelsten Tönen zeichneten Die hellsten Lichter erzeugen den Hell-Dunkel-Effekt (wörtlich „Hell/Dunkel“), der für klassische Gemälde so charakteristisch ist. Auf mineralischer Basis Pigmente haben größere Pigmentgrößen und geringere Farbstärken als moderne Farben. Sie sind schlanker und natürlich mattierter. Mineralfarben sind meist deckend. Ausnahmen bilden Ultramarinblau und Viridian, die transparent sind. Mineralfarben haben eine Lichtechtheitsbewertung von Ausgezeichnet (I). Moderne Farben Moderne organische Pigmente basieren auf Kohlenstoff. Die meisten modernen Farben, einschließlich Chinacridon, Phthalo und Perylen, sind es transparent. Hansa und Napthol sind halbtransparent. Aufgrund ihrer geringen Partikelgröße und der höheren Ölaufnahme (fetter) Moderne Pigmente ermöglichen Farben mit sehr hohen Farbstärken und einem natürlich höheren Glanz. Moderne Farben ergeben in Kombination mit Weiß unglaublich intensive Farbtöne. Sie bleiben in Mischungen hochwirksam, es sei denn, es handelt sich um eine Ergänzung hinzugefügt. Anstatt von hell zu dunkel zu wechseln, wechselt eine Familie moderner Farben von warm (Phthalo Emerald) zu kühl (Phthalo). Grün). Gamblin Portland Greys (Light, Medium und Deep) können die starken Farbtöne der modernen Farben abschwächen, um ein natürlicheres Aussehen zu erzielen Mischungen. Die Portland Greys sind nach der Stadt benannt, in der sie hergestellt werden, und ihrem charakteristischen grauen Himmel für Maler, die mit Wert arbeiten. Unser Sortiment der neutralen Portland Greys wird um Portland Warm Grey und Portland erweitert Kaltes Grau. Durch die Zugabe von Titanium Buff entsteht ein Dreiklang aus gedämpften Primärfarben. Dies gibt Malern die Möglichkeit dazu Vervollständigen Sie eine Reihe „farbiger Grautöne“.
