Pastes can be used to create a variety of effects and expressions. When used in conjunction with acrylic paints, they extend the working properties and expand the creative possibilities. Unlike gels, pastes are opaque because they contain marble dust or other fillers that create a white or clay-like surface with a variety of textures and properties. Molding pastes can also be used to create bases for painting, to create texture on a smoother surface, or to smooth a textured surface. The absorbent properties of molding pastes make it an ideal substrate for almost all painting and drawing media.
Light Molding Paste (3575) can be used to create thick surfaces and layers that are lighter than most gels or pastes. It dries to an opaque, matte finish similar to fine sandpaper. The dry layer tolerates both wet and dry techniques very well.
