The ready-to-use inks from Lascaux allow a limitless variety of effects when designing print positives.
Lascaux inks form a unique range of innovative, ready-to-use, water-soluble products that have been specially developed for the production of print positives for "exposure-dependent" printing processes. The positives can be used in aqueous screen printing systems, acrylic-resist etching processes (ARE), solar plate printing processes as well as traditional printing methods. The ink markings appear in the print.
Properties and areas of application
The ready-to-use inks are used to produce hand-made, opaque markings on printing forms. Images can be painted on smooth PVC films or grained supports. The inks can also be used to alter images on photographic, digital or photocopied positives. Some supports can have greasy surfaces that repel the ink. These supports can be easily degreased with a household cleaner before use.
Each ink has different properties and all have excellent working characteristics.
Their properties vary from liquid, fast drying and waterproof to viscous, slow drying and resoluble.
The inks offer a wide variety of marking possibilities, including fine drawings,
painted marks, lithographic washes, stippling and soft ground effects such as etching, airbrush markings, roller application, offsetting and pattern making.
The inks are coloured for easy identification and can be mixed within an image. Lascaux inks can be used straight from the bottle or diluted with Lascaux Diluting Liquid, water or tannic liquids (in the palette or on the undercoat). Painted washes should not be manipulated in any way during the drying process.
Removal
Lascaux inks should be removed from brushes, tools and surfaces with warm soapy water before they dry. Dried ink can be removed with household cleaner. A non-abrasive bathroom cleaner sponge makes removing the ink easier.
